Yes, the Careclave replaces an autoclave as it integrates the automated cleaning, care and disinfection of straight and contra-angle handpieces into a fully-fledged sterilisation device. It should be noted that the instruments can be sterilised in the Carebox. However, the straight and contra-angle handpieces, which are classified as critical, must then be packaged and sterilised again in the Careclave sterilisation programme.
No, the Careclave does not replace a fully-fledged thermal disinfector.
Only straight and contra-angle handpieces and other hollow instruments are cleaned, maintained and disinfected. For all other instruments that need to be cleaned and disinfected, the practice still requires a thermal disinfector.
