The outpatient operation centre in the historic Dutch quarter of Potsdam is a joint practice for anaesthesiology and outpatient operations. The centre performs an average of 12 and a maximum of 20 operations per day. This is concentrated in the following subject areas:

From the Cliniklav 25 to the Cliniclave 45
Before our purchase of the Cliniclave 45, we used two large steam sterilizers for our sterilizations: A Selectomat Compact from MMM and the Cliniklav 25 from MELAG. Our decision to purchase the Cliniclave 45 was based on the considerably superior drying result which it achieves in comparison to its predecessor, the Cliniklav 25.
Instrument decontamination with the Cliniclave 45
Two trained members of staff are responsible for instrument treatment. In addition to the sterilizers, we also use a washer-disinfector, a sealing device and a ultrasound bath. Following the rectification of on-location deficits in the water supply, the drying results of the Cliniclave 45 have proven to be without fault; we are entirely satisfied with all aspects of its operation. Intuitive operation via the colour-touch display is simple and secure. Nevertheless, a greater level of sensitivity in the touch screen would be desirable. Charge clearance is also performed directly in the display; documentation is performed via the integrated CF card interface. The energy-saving mode is a further good feature which makes a contribution to optimizing energy-efficiency in our clinic.
We use the Cliniclave 45 to sterilize an average of 6-13 batches per day. Our loads usually consist of sterilization containers and wrapped individual instruments. The reliability and speed of the Cliniclave 45 enables a safe and quick treatment process which makes an important contribution to safeguarding our practice processes.
Our conclusion
The Cliniclave 45 is an absolutely reliable large steam sterilizer providing excellent drying results and short program run times, well-adapted to efficient practice processes. The entire device concept and the standard additional functions such as batch authorization or energy-saving mode shorten and simplify the work steps involved in instrument treatment, thus making an important contribution to producing consistently highquality practice processes.
